Prayer for Ondoy Victims

"Heavenly Father, we humbly pray to you as a nation. We beg You, look upon us with mercy.

For our brothers who lost their lives, receive them in Your bosom.

For the families they left behind, console them.

For those who are still missing and those trying to get home to their families, make their way easy.

For those looking and waiting for missing family and relatives, steady their faith.

For those still waiting for help, give them strength.

For those who have lost their homes and property, give them hope.

For those involved in relief and rescue operations, make them competent and selfless.

Everything we do for our unfortunate brethren, we offer to You and Your glory. All this we pray in the most holy Name of Jesus. Amen."

Please forward this prayer and let us all pray together as a nation in this time of need.

Prayer

"God... grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. Amen."

- Reinhold Niebuhr

CDC, please include in your prayers those who were affected by Ondoy.

27 September 2009 Gospel Reading

Mark 9: 38 - 43, 45, 47 - 48
38 John said to him, "Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he was not following us."
39 But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon after to speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is for us.
41 For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ, will by no means lose his reward.
42 "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung round his neck and he were thrown into the sea.
43 And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire.
45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell.
47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell,
48 where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.

Hey CDC, we'll see you tom. Practice cancelled due to heavy rains. See ya.

20 September 2009 Gospel Reading

Mark 9:30-37

9:30 They went on from there and passed through Galilee. He did not want anyone to know it;

9:31 for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, "The Son of Man is to be betrayed into human hands, and they will kill him, and three days after being killed, he will rise again."

9:32 But they did not understand what he was saying and were afraid to ask him.

9:33 Then they came to Capernaum; and when he was in the house he asked them, "What were you arguing about on the way?"

9:34 But they were silent, for on the way they had argued with one another who was the greatest.

9:35 He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, "Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all."

9:36 Then he took a little child and put it among them; and taking it in his arms, he said to them,

9:37 "Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me."

Here you go, CDC.. gospel for next week. =) See you saturday!

August 2, 2009 Gospel Reading

Hello CDC! Thanks for the participation last saturday. I am happy that some of you were able to read the gospel and share their suggestions for the reflection song.

Here's the gospel for next week, 02 August 2009 - John 6:24-35.
Again, the reading speaks of bread - food. What kind of food is Jesus talking about?
Let me know! You can leave/post your comment anytime!

God Bless. Have a wonderful week!

July 26, 2009 Gospel Reading

Gospel reading for next Sunday is taken from the book of John 6:1-15. This is one of my favorite reading - Multiplication of bread. You still have to read the whole story in the Bible!
Main story goes like this. There was this large crowd following Jesus and He wanted to provide food for the people. And there was this boy who had two fish and five barley loaves of bread. Then Jesus took the bread and gave thanks. Guess what happened? Jesus and the apostles were able to feed five thousand men! More so, there were left overs. Twelve basketful of food! =)

Sambuhay front cover title reads: "Let the Banquet Begin!". Responsorial Psalm: "The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs."

Think, think... Think! =) Reflect. I hope everybody can help suggest our reflection song.
We would really appreciate it!

Have a blessed week and see you on Saturday! =)

P.S.
Thanks Carl for the suggestion yesterday - Pastorale.

July 19, 2009 Gospel Reading

Gospel Reading from (Mk 6:30-34)

The Apostles gathered together with Jesus and reported all they had done and taught. He said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while." People were coming and going in great numbers, and they had no opportunity even to eat.

So they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place. People saw them leaving and many came to know about it. They hastened there on foot from all the towns and arrived at the place before them.

When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.

CDC, this is the gospel reading for next week. Please try to look for a reflection song that suits the gospel. For additional info, title of the "Sambuhay" front cover is "Lord, Shepherd Me". It also stated that this day could also be called the Good Shepherd Sunday. (Ang Panginoon, ang aking Pastol? Kuya Sam, maybe we could learn this song!?)

For the succeeding weeks, I'll just give the gospel verse and you guys can look it up in the bible.
If i have more time, i'll also give my insights or relay the reflection from the Sambuhay.

P.S.
We'll see you this friday, 8pm for our practice for the wedding.
Also, feel free to leave or post your comments here in our blog.

P.S.2
I promise to put more pics in our blog and maybe write some more.
Any volunteers to help us post articles/pics? Let me know.=)

July 12, 2009 Mass Line-up

Entrance: Come to the Table by Elim
Offertory: Take and Receive
Communion: Bread of Life
Reflection: Panalanging maging Bukas Palad
Recessional: Bayan, magsi-awit na!

Thanks to Joanna and Michael for giving suggestions for our reflection song. =)
Please don't be discourage if we didn't pick the song you suggested.
By the way, it gave me an idea. I'll be posting the Gospel Reading or verse (which you'd have to look and read from the Bible) and/or the first/second reading, Responsorial Psalm or maybe the reflection on the cover of the Sambuhay. This would help us prepare and choose the Reflection/Post-Communion song that fits or suits the gospel readings. In this way, we can help people participating in the mass reflect more. It would also help us understand God's word and be able to share it through our songs - (singing His song is twice praying!)

So, I hope everyone can participate in suggesting songs. If you can't find a song, maybe you could just share your insights about the Gospel reading. Please feel free to leave or post your comments!

God bless!

Invite for the TV Mass in Channel 5

Yesterday, I received a txt from CJ of Jesuit. She was inviting us for a taping for one of their TV masses on 21 June 2009, 10AM or 3PM. I told her I would ask the group first (hehehe).
But she called me up this morning, asking for our response. Told her we have not discussed it yet. Honestly, I am a bit hesistant because some of the choirs they have invited were Hangad, Bukas Palad, Ateneo boy's choir (medyo bigatin eh!). We also discussed few items like, we only have guitarists and some expectations or if there were requirements.

Please don't get mad, but I decided to decline because of the short notice. I felt we needed to prepare and practice more. Though I told CJ, we were willing to participate and that if she could just schedule us next month (hehehe). I hope she would contact me again. It'll be great if we could sing on national TV (khet nde live!)
